productive {??} procrastination

Is it any wonder that my nickname while growing up was “Doodle”?

I use these AMAZING planners thought up by Charlie Gilkey of Productive Flourishing (if you are a creative type and need help with time management, I highly suggest you check out Gilkey’s series of planners on Productive Flourishing).  I put the planners in clasp folders as they are very portable and it’s easy to keep things organized, but let’s face it, aesthetically the plain manila folders leave something to be desired.

So fast-forward to yesterday as I sat down to map out my week and day.  I looked at the sad-sack manila folder and decided that the poor thing needed some sprucing up.  Thus the “productive” procrastination.  I had a great time playing with my rendering markers and incorporating several quotes that I have been finding inspiring lately.  Then I went really nuts and brought out the Mod Podge and a roll of trace  ::

The combination of trace paper and both matte and glossy Mod Podge created a really cool layered and textured effect and another great canvas for more inspirational quotes.  Naturally, I love them all {I mean, duh, I chose them} but my favorite is an anonymous quote ::

Masquerading as a normal person day after day is exhausting

Which is pretty much how I feel on a regular basis.  I mean, who wants to be normal?  Not me.

So, yes, I procrastinated… BUT I got to indulge in some creative work that did get my mind working AND now I have an attractive folder to inspire me {on a highly personalized level} whenever I sit down to map out how I am going to get through my workload.  Win-win, if you ask me.
