Never Give Up on Style!

The recession definitely makes you rethink your priorities.  Look at these, er, challenging times as an opportunity to focus on how you want to live, and what you can live without.

“Style helps you get up in the morning.  It’s a way of life.” — Diana Vreeland

A well designed room is not, I repeat is NOT, dependent on limitless fund, you just need to get extremely creative.  Look at shelter magazines for inspiration.  Start a folder of rooms or spaces that you like.  If you see a particular room you like, say a dining room, try to isolate the elements that really appeal to you.  Is it the shade of paint?  The configuration of the room?  The furniture?  The lighting?  The next step is to look at how you can achieve the look in a way that you can afford.

If you decide to work with a designer {here are some reasons why you should!} do the same exercise with the shelter magazine inspiration before you meet with your designer for the first time.  The more clear and focused you are on what you want and how much you are willing to invest the better your experience will be!
